Jan Raeder is a wellbeing educator, keynote speaker, author, and SelfCare Sensei dedicated to helping individuals and organizations thrive through evidence-based wellbeing education, speaking, and her M.O.R.E. Framework.
Drawing on more than 30 years of experience in traditional Okinawan and Japanese karate, behavior change science, and positive psychology, Jan is an evidence translator who turns complex wellbeing research into practical tools for everyday life and sustainable growth.

She is the author of Strive for M.O.R.E.: What Wellbeing Really Means & How You Can Achieve It, where she introduces her M.O.R.E.™ Framework—Meaning, Optimism, Relationships, and Engagement—as a simple, memorable, and actionable approach inspired in part by Martin Seligman’s PERMA model.
Rather than replacing PERMA, M.O.R.E. reflects Jan’s work as an evidence translator—taking established wellbeing science and making it easier to remember, understand, and apply in daily life.

With over 10,000 sparring rounds in her martial arts training, Jan brings a deep understanding of discipline, resilience, and focus under pressure. That experience reinforced one of her core teachings: when you start taking things personally, you lose your center—on the mat and in life.

A National AAU Karate gold medalist and former senior instructor and business manager at US Budokai Karate of Albany, Jan returned to higher education later in life, earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in just four years.

Through her work, Jan bridges the gap between wellbeing science and everyday life—helping people move from information to understanding to action so they can live with purpose, clarity, and heart.
Jan Raeder is an evidence translator, speaker, and author who helps individuals and organizations thrive by turning wellbeing science into practical, everyday tools through the M.O.R.E. Framework.
